Hi, my name is Nicolas Mejia. Nicolas, without the 'h.'

75% of the people think my accent is Italian, 10% think it's French and the rest think it's just nice.

I'm a creative director/writer, bike commuter, weekend drummer, street art and sneaker collector, and Instructor at the Chicago Portfolio School. I’m originally from Bogotá, Colombia.

My journey in advertising started back in 2000 when I started my own digital shop back when nobody really knew what digital was all about. I’ve worked at Lowe/SSP3, BBDO both Colombia and Chicago, Leo Burnett, also both Colombia and Chicago, Saatchi & Saatchi LA and Ogilvy & Mather USA.

With over fifteen years of experience, I have specialized in concept development and integrated solutions for Fortune 500 brands, including SCJ, Toyota, P&G, Allstate, Directv, GM, Sony, Renault, Anheuser-Busch InBev and McDonald's.

My work has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Adweek, Creativity, AdAge, FWA, Archive Magazine and Communication Arts, and has also been recognized by almost every major advertising award show including Cannes Lions, London International Festival, Clio Awards, One Show, Shark Awards, New York Festival, Effies, Fiap, El Ojo de Iberoamerica, El Sol, Wave Festival, USH and The Addys among others.

I’m a storyteller. I know how to connect with people because I’ve been doing it successfully for years. Beyond traditional media, my work effectively spans all new and innovative marketing platforms. I have a passion for strong visual language and innovation-driven creativity when it comes to any new assignment.

Currently at Ogilvy, I'm a Creative Director of Global Brands such as Kiwi Quality Shoe Care and Mr. Muscle and lead for the City of Chicago account working directly with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.  

During my free time I split myself doing an Executive MBA on Creative Leadership with the Berlin School and running Flagged Wonders: an art collective in a constant quest to find the coolest street art and share it with the world.
